At Wildernest, we see far too many women with a vision for their “dream business,” without thinking through how that dream business aligns with their actual dream life.

Often our minds get constrained by thinking about how to pursue our dream only in the context of our present lives. But that’s not dreaming big. That’s just trying to fit one more thing into your current, maybe never-ending, to-do list. And when that happens, it’s more than likely that if and when we actually do decide to pursue our dream business, we fall into the pattern of doing things the same way we did when we were working for someone else, because it’s all we know. We replicate the same systems, schedule, and style that we tried to escape from, only to end up feeling a lot of the same things that made us want to leave in the first place.

What good is building a company of your own if:

…it perpetuates the same shitty mindset you had when you were working for someone else?

…your own business isn’t in alignment with your core values and desires as a human being?

…it’s a company that doesn’t even leverage your unique gifts and perspective?

You have the freedom to create a whole new playbook and create a better system that aligns with the way YOU work. Because you’re the boss now, and absolutely NO ONE is telling you what you should do.

So, the time is now to take a step back and realize that by starting your own business, you get to start playing by your own rules.

You’re not starting your company to build someone else’s dreams or live by someone else’s standards, you’re here to build your own – 100% your way.

You have the power to design your life and business to look exactly the way you want, and the time is right now.

So, my challenge to you today is to really think about what success means to you and you alone. And think about what it doesn’t mean to you.

Ask yourself:

What are your most important values?

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

What gives your life meaning and purpose?

What will you bring to the world and to your life through your success?

What makes you feel alive?

Throw out the “shoulds,” the “cants,” the “I’m not enoughs,” and any old stories the world and everyone (including yourself) has been telling you your entire life.

Forget the way you’ve always done it, and start dreaming about the possibilities for how you can start anew. No matter how beautiful, revolutionary, and cash-producing your business idea is; if it’s not in alignment with your purpose and values and if it’s missing the essential component of being in alignment with your dream lifestyle, you will end up unhappy long term.

If it doesn’t have both it isn’t worth it.

The whole purpose of the Dream Big section of our Wildernest Method is to make sure you’re not just following your passion and purpose in your dream career (while that is essential and hella important too), but ALSO to find one that actually aligns with your dream lifestyle. While you may have one or the other, finding the balance is essential. Before you take the leap into the world of business ownership, you need to get really clear on what you want your dream business AND your dream life to be – and know how the two fit together.

So, wild women, with the start of 2020, I challenge you to start thinking about what lights your soul on fire AND makes sense for the life you want to live. And I also challenge you to Dream (really, REALLY) Big.

Need some help figuring that out? You’re in luck! I’m leading a FREE 1 hour virtual workshop on select dates in January starting this FRIDAY, JANUARY 10.
